VerChk (Version Check)

VerChk 1.0 is a simple command-line utility designed to check if the software installed on a computer is up-to date. Currently VerChk is able to check up to eight different software items. By default VerChk examines Adobe Flash Player (for Internet Explorer), Adobe Flash Player (for Firefox), Adobe Reader, Adobe Shockwave, Apple QuickTime, Microsoft Silverlight, Mozilla Firefox, and the Sun Microsystems Java plug-in.

Run the executable included on a Microsoft Windows (XP/Vista/7) PC. Read and write permissions are required. An Internet connection is required to to download the data files if you are not using your own.

Use your own DAT files

VerChk is a very useful tool for administrators or IT staff that need to manually update any number of Windows computers. Using VerChk, IT staff can quickly scan a computer for up to eight different software items and determine if those items are out of date, etc.

VerChk uses a series of comma delimited plain text data files that contain a list of software to check, the latest or desired/required version of each software, and the file location/registry string to query. If your software configuration requirements are different (your company requires Java 6 Update 18 instead of the latest version, for example) you can easily download/modify or create your own DAT files that will reflect those requirements.

The following data files are current and can be modified or used as a template for your own data files. View the "readme" file for more information on the arguments used to access your custom DAT files instead of downloading the most current DATs.
